Yasreana finds herself standing in what appears to be a Great meeting
hall...
Yasreana stands before the council, her mind racing with questions.
Yasreana Listens intently as the head of the council, a stern looking
woman, begins to speak
Yasreana Deleal, first daughter to Briza, High Priestess to the House of
Aleval, you are hereby sentenced by this council
To rebuild your House, restore honor to its name, and destroy those who
would have destroyed you.
You are the last in your family line, the last surviving member of
Aleval.
My eldest granddaughter, the council fades from site as Yasreana finds
herself standing face to face with the stern looking woman, it is to you
that this fate falls. Only you can restore our House. It will be a long
and tedious journey child, but if you fail, our family will end with
you.
Yasreana looks her ancestor in the eyes, as the questions flow from her
What is this place? Who did this to us? Why
Calm down child, I will tell you what I can, but I am afraid time is
short. This this is the remains of our House, the charred broken ruins
of our great hall. We were once the First House in Abereth. Visions of
the past fill Yasreana's mind We wore our house insignia with pride, but
many were jealous and sought to overthrow us. Among them was the house
of FreNal. They coerced many of our servants into betraying us, and
struck without warning, during your birth. Our enemies knew that many
would be gathered to witness the birth of the Matrons first
granddaughter, and they waited for their spies to signal them when it
begun. They struck swiftly; many were lost before the battle even
started. In the initial commotion, one of our guards grabbed your
mother, with you still in her arms, and ran through the secret tunnels
with your brother following close behind. Many others tried to follow
but their wizards destroyed the tunnel, causing it to collapse on top of
them. After the battle ended in the city the house of FreNal sent
mercenaries after those who survived. They new that if even one member
of the house survived, by our laws they could return one day and seek
justice against them, but if none survived, then there would be no one
to invoke the laws. The guard took you to a place little known by others
in the city, a tunnel leading to the surface. As you traveled to the
surface a group of Drider hired by FreNal found this place and attacked.
The guard fought to save you but was no match for a group of Drider; in
the chase your brother and mother were poisoned, and the guard was
slain. Your mother had just made it out of the tunnel entrance and into
the light of the desert when you were found by the cleric. From then you
lived your life, not knowing the details of your birth, or of your true
importance, or that the mercenaries hired by the FreNal house still
searched for you. That is why we sent you away from Dra-Shi, the FreNal
spies had discovered your whereabouts and were awaiting to ambush you on
your way back to Shaldone. Only if you survive can our deaths be
avenged, and our honor restored. Now Yasreana you know your destiny
Yasreana wakes in the forest of Nektulos with new vigor. I will avenge
my family, one day I will rebuild my house |
