Yasreana’s Origins
Yasreana Deleal was born into the house of Aleval
(which was “first house” of the drow city of Arebeth) as first daughter of
Briza (the High priestess of the house of Aleval) who was the second
daughter Born of Aniset (Matron of the house of Aleval).
On the day of Yasreana’s birth the house of Aleval came
under attack led by the house of Fre’nall who had been jealous of the house
of Aleval’s position as first house.
The attack began moments after Yasreana’s birth.
A loyal guard guided Briza with Yasreana still in her
arms and her son, Kamren, following close behind through a string of secret
passages to the surface somewhere in the Shaldone desert.
Having suffered mortal wounds the guard perished while
in the tunnels though he held the attackers off long enough for Briza to
escape.
Briza and Kamren traveled through the desert for most
of the night.
Though Kamren had been poisoned and knew that he didn’t
have long to live he stayed by his mother’s side to protect Yasreana.
Kamren gave the last of his water to his mother and
younger sister as his eyes began to blur and he fell to the sands as death
finally overtook him.
Being weak from birthing and the time she spent
traveling Briza placed a necklace on Yasreana, (the necklace contained the
child’s name and the name of her mother and their house glyph) then laid
Yasreana down and collapsed in the red sands.
A Cleric who was traveling with a caravan of supplies
to the Temple of Shaldone heard the cries of the young Yasreana and found
her next to her mother who was barely holding on to life.
As she died Briza asked the cleric “take my newborn
child… take her someplace safe… she is being hunted, my… house fell under
attack… please… please… help...her…”
The cleric returned to the caravan carrying the newborn
Yasreana.
He tended the child and took her to the Temple.
Once at the temple he took her to the high priest of
Drashanon.
Having heard the story the high priest declared
Yasreana a ward of the temple and put her in the charge of Daresetti (one of
the female drow who lived at the temple).
Daresetti taught Yasreana the ways of her people and of
the spider goddess who created them, but also taught her the ways of
Drashanon, whom Daresetti worshipped.
When Yasreana reached the age of 94 Daresetti told her
what she new of how she was found and what she had found out through her
sources about Yasreana’s true identity. Daresetti informed the still young
Yasreana that she was the last of her house.
Yasreana cursed the spider queen for allowing this to
happen and on that day took the vow to become a cleric of Drashanon.
